William Hill BOYT/ETTE b 27 July 1834/5 Duplin Co NC; son of Jesse BOYETT (b 1795 & d 1840 & Hester WILDER b 1800) or son of Jesse & Keziah (SMITH) BOYET. He m in Berrien Co GA, on 25 Dec 1856 to Emaline Jemima/h TAYLOR (b 22 Jan 1842 in SC & d 28 June 1926), dau of William Jackson & Samantha M/Jane (ROGERS) TAYLOR. Treacy BOYETTE (b 14 Oct 1816 & d 26 June 1894 Clinch Co GA) (is believed to be William Hill’s half sis) who m John BOSTIC/K; fam stories tell that William Hill while young moved to & grew up in Berrien Co (now Lanier Co) & liv w/ his half sis Treacy & husb. William Hill bought land nr Ray City (then Lowndes Co) GA in 1853. Their PO was Mill Town, & they res nr Nashville, in Berrien Co GA on 9 Aug 1860 (p61Stmp391HH#384), adj “Aden I” BOYD (b 1834 GA) fam (HH#383). William Hill volunteered on 22 Aug 1862 as a pvt in Co I, 50th GA Inf Reg CSA dur CW where he served as a shoemaker at Columbia GA until Feb 1865. He was dischgd on 11 May 1863/5. He was paroled at Thomasville on 11 May 1865. The battle of Columbus took place on 16 Apr 1865; the Union won, & William Hill was patrolled & returned home from Thomasville on 11 May 1865. They liv adj John (b cal 1809 NC) & “Treasy” (b cal 1818 NC) BOSTICK in Mil Dist 1144, Berrien Co GA (stmp574p107im27) on 18 Aug 1870. In ag census he owned 45 ac of tilled soil & 445 ac of woods. (John Bostick owned 40 ac of tilled land & 70 ac of wooded property (10-17 Aug 1870). He farmed nr Ray City where he liv until he d; they res Dist 1300 (ED5p25aStm603HH#187im6of7) on 18 June 1880. At that time 9 children liv at home; a niece, Martha Ann LANE age 28 b GA w/ pars b NC, res w/ fam. William’s age given as 25 in 1860, 38 in 1870, & 46 in 1880. William Hill served as JP from 1881 to 1885 for Berrien Co. & served as 1148th Dist Notary Public, ex-officio JP beg in 1889. William Hill d on 16 Dec 1897 nr Ray City, GA.
