  1. It interesting to read through these pages. Henry was my ancestors, his son Eli was my GGG grandfather, and Eli’s son George was my GG grandfather. Talmus Boyett was my G grandfather, and his son Sam, (John S Boyett, Sr) my grandfather. George and Harriet (Bottoms) Boyett settled in Arkansas. I believe my Great Aunt Sallie moved to OK where George passed. My Grand Father and grandmother Fern (Walker) Boyett moved to Kansas City, Missouri with my Father Sam (John S Boyett Jr) and Aunt Kay, then to Monrovia California where I was born in 1955.

    1. Michael: I don’t negotiate this website very well; I’m sorry. A former student of mine set it up for me, but is now writing a book and cannot not assist me in responding.

I tried to reply last week, but it didn’t go through. I’ll try again.

Yes, we share the same ancestors. My John William Boyett married Mary Catherine Whitley. He served in the Union Army during Civil War; 5 of his brothers served in CSA. After he returned home to Gibson Co, the family tradition is that he became involved in a fight in a local saloon, then left and went home. Someone followed him & called him outside. He, wife, and 3 young children all went out to front porch where he was murdered in front of them. Mary left Gibson County and moved to Scott Co Arkansas (her brother Needham had moved to Sebastian Co before that).
I’ve never found a newspaper article to prove this “story”; it remains unproven and just tradition.
Other descendants of Eli do not know this “story” but William is buried in the same cemetery as the rest of the Gibson Co Boyett, and Eli’s Bible record lists his b & d dates.
My email is wendybelliott@gmail.com and that’s a much easier way to chat for me.
      Hope you receive this.
